I’d like to ask a favor…

 Local newspapers usually have a column titled something like “From The Past”. Would you please keep an eye out for anything pertaining to Rural Free Delivery? If something were published, would you be so kind as to make a copy and send it on to me? I’d appreciate it! J

A KICKER ON THE ROUTE

 Pa used to take the wagon

An’ just put in one seat;

An’ then hitch up the old bay mare

What has them two white feet;

An’ say, “You get away you kids,

You can’t go ‘long with me,

I’m goin’ to town to get the mail;

I’m busy, don’t you see?”

When Pa was gone the hired man

Would go off for a smoke,

An’ tell us that he stopped his work

Because his tools was broke.

Then I’d go off fishin’,

Stid of choppin’ that old wood,

An’ stay away for several hours,

When the fish was bitin’ good.

But now it’s all so different,

The hired man doesn’t shirk,

And before I go a-fishin’

I have to do my work.

Now, what’s the reason of it?

Why any one can see

Pa doesn’t go to town for mail;

We’ve got the R.F.D.
